The Wilbur Bar - Ocean Springs best kept secret.

“ THE MOST BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED BAR IN MISSISSIPPI!” - ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST

The Wilbur: a craft cocktail & wine bar offering an innovative drink and dinner menu, as well as an extensive bourbon and wine selection. And it doesn't stop there…from history to art and culture, the unique attributes of Ocean Springs have been woven into the concept of this new space.

Come relax in our speakeasy-inspired cocktail bar that showcases the original building’s salvaged wood from 1894 and block prints from the famous Walter Anderson…complete with a hidden room behind a swinging bookshelf and a mural of Al Capone, who famously had a local estate right here in Ocean Springs!

We are also pleased to have been able to further incorporate local artisans and materials by having Guice Woodworks custom build our beautiful bar and hand-crafted wooden tables made from locally-sourced Ocean Springs black oak.

So why the name "The Wilbur"?

A little background on this place, The Roost...

The original part of our building was built in 1894 and has a long and colorful history. The short story is that it has been a private residence, a hotel, a brothel, (don’t get too excited), a motor court, a restaurant, a gym, an office, a place of worship, and retail stores of various kinds. But in 1952, the property first took on its history of serving as a hotel for Ocean Springs on the bustling main street of Porter Avenue.

The man that had this idea was Wilbur C. Wisnasky, and he decided to name his establishment, The Wilbur Motel. We wanted to pay homage to this part of our history. The Roost is certainly not the first time this building has been a place for people around the country and even the world to visit.

We are thrilled to now offer a unique boutique hotel experience that has been enhanced by the addition of The Wilbur Craft Cocktail & Wine Bar at The Roost. We look forward to welcoming you to The Wilbur!
