Carl the Rooster, Downtown Ocean Springs' Beloved Rooster

Carl was a R

hode Island Red rooster who became one of the best-known faces of downtown Ocean Springs. He wandered Government Street and the shops and restaurants nearby, and locals and visitors stopped to say hello and take his picture.

Carl first turned up downtown around 2011 with a small group of roaming chickens and quickly became a familiar sight on Government Street, a favorite of locals and visitors alike.

Carl is still part of the downtown story.
